Cave de Tain l'Hermitage Hermitage 1999
Deep, ruby red. An intense and complex nose of red berry fruits, raspberry jam, roast coffee, blond tobacco and leather. On the palate these flavours are blended into a smooth, fine textured structure, with excellent balance between acidity and alcohol, and tanins which are highly present, but silky and fine. This is a wine to lay down, full flavoured and richly textured, with a hint of spice on the finish - a great classic of the Syrah varietal. This great red wine is traditionally served with noble meat dishes, such as wild game, goose, roast capon, fillet of beef... However, it is also a good match with "stone grilled" meats, full flavoured terrines, or chicken livers for instance. Even with dessert, a bitter-sweet chocolate tart will bring out the elegance of this Syrah. |
